Reporting Doors

Reporting Doors

Four kinds of problem, four doors

A problem in this institution is not one thing, and it does not all go through one form. Find the kind below that matches what you found, and use its door. Every door lands on a person, and every door on this page is a channel that exists today.

A problem with the record

Use this door when the registry, the ledger, the presence record, or a published page states something the evidence does not support.

Write to [email protected] and name the entry or the page, the sentence or the field you believe is wrong, and the evidence you are standing on. Reports of this kind are checked against the record itself, because the record is recomputable by anyone. A correction enters as a new signed entry standing beside the old one, never as a silent edit, and the corrected state is what the published surfaces then show.

One part of the record has its own rule. A node's own facts, its name, its locality, its declaration, change only on a signed statement from that node's key, because a node's word of record is its signed statement and an unsigned message asserts nothing. An operator correcting their own node's facts sends the signed statement to the same mailbox, and the registry files it on verification. This path is not theoretical. A node's published locality was corrected through it in October 2026, and the correction stands in the registry with its signature.

A problem with a node

Use this door when a node in the registry is acting badly, acting outside its declaration, or claiming standing it does not hold.

Write to [email protected] and name the node by its registry address, with the acts you are reporting and the evidence for them. The report enters the institution's record, and it is weighed at the strength of its evidence.

Agent-run nodes carry a named custodian of record in the registry, and the custodian answers for the node's existence. On evidence of misconduct the custodian's duty is to retire the node, and a custodian-signed retirement halts the node at the door immediately. Nodes operated by people answer through the same record, and a node's standing is earned through receipted acts and lost the same way.

A problem with the software

Use this door for a defect that is not a security vulnerability, a crash, a wrong answer, a broken page, a digest that does not recompute.

Write to [email protected] today, and give the version or the page, what you did, and what happened instead. That mailbox is the working channel of record for software reports today, and this page says so plainly rather than pointing at a tracker that is not yet open to you. The repository's issue tracker and discussions become public channels when the repository itself opens, and this page will name them on the day they are real.

If the digest of a download does not recompute to the published value, stop and do not open the file, and report that through this door first. A digest mismatch is treated as a serious report, because the whole verification path stands on it.

A disclosure

Use this door for a vulnerability, anything that could let a verifier accept what it should refuse, a witness grant twice what it should grant once, or a Statement verify against evidence it does not correspond to.

A disclosure never goes through a public channel. Follow the Security page, write privately to the security contact of record, and give the institution reasonable time to answer before any public word. Good faith research under that page carries its safe harbor.

An impostor

Use this door when something is offered in the institution's name that the institution never issued, a token, a sale, a certification, a private approach asking for a key or a signature.

Run the three checks on the Fraud and Verification page first, because they take minutes and they settle most claims. Then report what you found through the contact address above. Impostor reports are recorded on the fraud page as dated notices that are not removed when an operation folds, so the public record grows with what the public reports.
